Dr. Juanita Okemwa has been practicing Orthodontics since 2001.  She graduated from Smith College with a Double Major in Biology and French Literature and a received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn).  At UPenn she was the recipient of the Dean’s Minority Scholarship for 4 years and was actively involved in promoting health and dental access in West Philadelphia.  Her orthodontic residency was completed at Howard University where she undertook research in collaboration with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) in Bethesda, MD. 

As a proud resident of the DC/MD/VA area, Dr. Okemwa is active in mentorship programs and remains engaged in promoting dental access via health fairs and dental talks to school children.  She enjoys swimming and reading and exploring new neighborhoods locally and around the world.  Her office philosophy is, “Everyone deserves a beautiful and healthy smile.”
